Pentagon denies the Trump’s description of the Beirut bombing as an attack

Washington, (ST) – Pentagon officials have denied statements of US President Donald Trump, in which he indicated that the explosion that occurred at the port of the Lebanese capital, Beirut, on Tuesday, was caused by an “attack”, stressing that there is as yet no evidence to indicate this.

President Donald Trump said U.S. military generals have told him that they “seem to feel” the massive explosion that rocked Beirut on Tuesday was a “terrible attack” likely caused by a bomb.

In comments reported by CNN, officials who refused to reveal their identity denied that they had given such information to Trump, and stressed that they “do not know what the American president is talking about.”

The explosion that occurred in the port of Beirut killed more than 100 people, while the number of injuries exceeded 4000.
