Pedersen Discusses Syria’s Political Transition and Condemns Israeli Interventions

The UN envoy to Syria, Geir Pedersen, stated, “I discussed the ongoing political transition process in Syria with the Syrian President in Damascus. We also addressed issues of deepening cooperation and the political, security, and economic challenges facing the country.” Pedersen continued, “I want to reiterate my condemnation of the repeated Israeli attacks and interventions in Syria. I appreciate the commitment of the Syrian authorities to uphold agreements with Israel and emphasize the need to continue easing sanctions on Syria.” He also mentioned, “I spoke with Al-Sharaa about the importance of establishing a transparent framework for the selection and election process of the provisional People’s Assembly.”
