Peacekeeping forces affiliated to the “Collective Security Treaty Organization” (CSTO) have begun handing over vital facilities they were guarding to the Kazakh authorities.
“According to the plan drawn up by the CSTO’s Collective Peacekeeping Forces Command and the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the delivery of vital facilities that it was guarding to the country’s law enforcement agencies has begun,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement today.
The statement indicated that the peacekeeping forces began preparing equipment to be loaded on Russian Air Force aircraft and to return to their permanent points of concentration.
The President of Kazakhstan, Kasem-Jomart Tokayev, announced on Wednesday that the peacekeeping forces have successfully completed their tasks and that their withdrawal from his country will begin within two days. He indicated that the presence of these forces in his country was within the framework of the law and with the aim of helping them confront a serious terrorist threat.
