Peace Supporters Delegation Meets Secretaries of National Opposition Parties

DAMASCUS, (ST)-The International Peace Supporters delegation, visiting Syria, affirmed their support to dialogue among the Syrians to keep Syria unified, strong and away from foreign interference.

Members of the guest delegation were speaking during their meeting on Sunday with a number of national opposition parties’ secretaries, who for their part put forward their views on solving the crisis in Syria and facing the foreign-backed terrorist war on the country.

“The crisis in Syria can only be solved through national dialogue based on rejecting foreign interference, maintaining national sovereignty and unifying efforts to fight terrorism, thus the Syrians can restore security and stability to their homeland and rebuild renewable, pluralist and democratic Syria,” the parties’ secretaries reiterated.

They affirmed that “unlike the poorly represented foreign-made opposition abroad, which urges military intervention and supports terrorism in Syria, many true opposition parties inside Syria seek reforms and reject violence and terrorism. They also contribute to reconciliation efforts to keep national unity.”

The secretaries urged the delegation of peace supporters to convey a real image of what is going on in Syria to their societies to correct the false image promoted by the Western media about Syria events. They also called on members of the delegation to pressure their governments to back peace and stability in Syria through fighting terrorism and stopping the supporting, arming and financing of the terrorists who commit horrible crimes and acts of destruction in Syria.

The delegation of international peace supporters also visited Damascus University where head of the delegation Mairead Maguir made a lecture to explain the goals of the mission’s visit to Syria.

She urged the Syrians to stick to tolerance and unify their efforts to make peace through constructive dialogue and expressed her deep sorrow over the crimes of murder, displacement, destruction and kidnapping committed by terrorists against the Syrian people.

Declan Hayes, a British peace activist from South Town University, presented a slide show displaying images and facts about the US crimes against humanity in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Syria and other countries as a result of the United States’ support for terrorists’ crimes with the aim of destabilizing secure countries.

He pointed out that the delegation’s field visits to several Syrian areas showed how bad the suffering of the Syrians is because of the crimes perpetrated by terrorists backed by countries that adopt the culture of death and wars as a goal, mainly America.
