“Peace Makers” Association in Lattakia holds “Lamma and Hikaya” carnival

Under the auspices of the Directorate of Social Affairs and Labor in Lattakia, the activities of “Lamma and Hikaya” (gathering and a story) carnival were launched at “Orouba” Park by the “Peace Makers” association in Lattakia in cooperation with the city council.

The coordinator of the campaign Danya Zeidan said in a statement to the Syriatimes e-newspaper “the peace Makers” association’s main goal is to spread the culture of peace through art. Every year the association carries out different activities marking the International Day of Peace”.

 

She stressed that the carnival, is part of the campaign “Connected to Peace”, which will last for a month .This is the fifth year in a row that it has been held by the association under the title creativity for peace.

Zeidan pointed out that the carnival is divided into several stands and each stand holds a distinctive name based on the songs of the famous singer Fayrouz .

She explained “Al Bosta” is the charitable market stand With the participation of about 17 various participating companies, individuals and associations including “You…. for Rural Women Development” association, the Blind association, “Dar Qamar” for

School and Kindergarten Equipment and the Syrian Charitable Association for Breast Cancer. The participating bodies display their own different products.

She indicated that on the sideline of the carnival, books were collected by book donors to be sold and their proceeds will be collected for the benefit of “Farah” Association for Supporting Children with Cancer.

 “Karam al-Alali” stand, according to Zeidan, displays different kinds of traditional food made by the association’s volunteers, adding “Migana” stand showcases a variety of artistic products representing the Syrian deep-rooted heritage from all the Syrian governorates.

As for the “Badminton Player” stand, it is specialized for

artists, in which they participate in a collective painting, sculpture and photography exhibition through which they display their various artworks.

“The last day of the carnival witnessed playing and dancing performance entitled “ Oudak Ranan” with the participation of young talented participants in addition to various activities, including an open-air movie, a dance show and magic games.
