ST_ “Peace, Love, Music, from Andalusia to Syria” overwhelmingly exclaimed the Spanish singer from Athrodeel band to Syriatimes, who hardly speaks English. “Music and love do not need words; they got straight from the heart to the heart”. Despite all the rumors that Syria is not a safe place, Athrodeel came from Spain and performed from Damascus Opera House, which hosted that exceptional Flamingo night, under the title “Peace from Andalusia”.
On the sidelines of the concert; Syriatimes interviewed Dr. Said Younis, University of Kalamoon chairman, which is the official sponsor of the event. Dr. Said Younis explained that the founders of Athrodeel band are both alumni of University of Kalamoon, Ahmad Diab a BA in political science and Aseel Masoud in medicine, who went to continue their graduate studies in Spain, Barcelona, city of flamingo. And there, they got married and started Athrodeel Band; Ahmad is a session guitarist and Aseel with her marvelous voice, along with seven Spanish musicians and dancers, creats a perfect tune between Syrian Oriental music and Spanish flamingo tradition.
Concerning the University of Kalamoon’s interest in promoting such events “We are keen to host such events especially in the aftermath of the war to give a moment of relief for Syrians and to convey a message to the world (we are still alive).” Dr. Younis responded.
With reference to the concert message Ahmad Diab asserted “We have two messages one to our homeland: (Wherever we are, we will represent the beautiful face of our country and its rich culture through music) and to the world outside (We are a living vibrant people)”
