“Peace for Palestine,” cultural solidarity concert at  Algiers Opera House

Algeria-(ST)- With the participation of the conductor of the Syrian National Symphony Orchestra, Maestro Misak Baghboudrian and the Syrian Academic Musicians  the Algerian Ministry of Culture and Arts organized a cultural solidarity concert entitled “Peace for Palestine” at the Algiers Opera House in support of the Palestinian people.

The concert, in which nearly 150 male and female artists of all ages participated was performed by the Algerian Opera Symphony Orchestra, led by Maestro Lotfi Saidi from Algeria and Baghboudrian, with the participation of Syrian musicians Rami Odeh and Ihab Qatish, the Algerian Opera Ballet, the Andalusian Opera Band, and the Algerian Opera Choir, in the presence of major Algerian artists and a school choir. The concert, whose proceeds went entirely to providing aid to the Palestinian people, aimed to raise the voice in order to defend the values of justice and peace in the language of the people, which is the language of music.Its program included presenting Arab, international, and heritage musical and singing pieces that carry many humanitarian and solidarity messages with the Palestinian people.

During the ceremony, Maestro Bagboudrian presented Giuseppe Verdi’s overture The Power of Destiny, which had been presented at the Al-Assad House for Culture and Arts in Damascus in a musical evening of solidarity with the Palestinian people by the Syrian National Symphony Orchestra in November 2023.

Among the pieces that the band presented was also the music of the famous Arab drama “Raafat Al-Hagan.”

In a statement to SANA, Baghboudrian said: Our participation in this important ceremony confirms the role of culture in all its forms in communicating national positions and the right word, and dedicates the role of music and musicians in expressing humanitarian issues, indicating that music is a social and cultural condition, while pointing out that the participation of three countries Syria, Algeria, and Tunisia in the ceremony is a reflection of the Arab cultural content.

Maestro Bagboudrian explained that at the end of 2023, the Syrian National Symphony Orchestra and the Syrian National Arab Music Orchestra presented two musical evenings in solidarity with the Palestinian people.
