Patrushev: More than 40 terrorists arrested in countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2020

MOSCOW, (ST)- Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev announced on Wednesday that more than 40 terrorists were arrested in the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in 2020.

Sputnik quoted Patrushev as saying during a meeting of the secretaries of the Security Councils of the CIS countries that “through joint efforts this year, our partners have arrested more than 40 members of international terrorist organizations.”

“This was based on information and materials provided by the Russian side to the partners,” he added, pointing out that more than 950 foreigners, who are involved in terrorist activities, were prevented from entering Russia.

 Earlier, Patrushev said that five terrorist attacks had been thwarted, three of which were being prepared in places of mass gathering in the center of Russia during this year.
