During his pastoral visit to the governorate of Hasaka on December 12th , the Syriac Catholic Patriarch of Antioch, Mar Ignatius Youssef III Younan spoke about the adherence of the people of Syria to the soil of their homeland, despite the wars that followed by harsh conditions.
In a statement to the media, after presiding over a Divine Liturgy in the Syriac Catholic Archdiocese in the city of Hassakah, Patriarch Younan called for steadfastness and rootedness in the land.
Patriarch Younan noted the role of the clergy in the steadfastness of the Christian sects and their refusal to emigrate.
Patriarch Younan expressed his happiness for his presence among the people of Hasakah, pointing out that our prayers are always for Syria, especially in these blessed days that precede the birthday of Christ.
He said that Syria remains a symbol of civilization, openness and radiance in the world, and that its people set an example for future generations through their adherence to their homeland and their roots.
