Patriarch Ignatius Youssef III Younan of Antioch and All the East for the Syriac Catholic Church has called for lifting the unfair economic sanctions imposed by the west on the Syrian people.
In a letter marking Easter (the Feast of Holy Resurrection), Younan said that international decision makers and all good willing people should work to lift the merciless sanctions which have been imposed on the Syrian people and are exacerbating their suffering day after day, describing the last ten years of the terrorist war on Syria as a terrible catastrophe.
“We pray that the efforts being exerted to end the conflict in Syria and rebuild the country will be fruitful thanks to the solidarity and unity of the Syrian people and to their determination to work together as to restore stability and prosperity to their homeland,” Patriarch Younan added.
