Patriarch Yohanna X Yazigi visits the Vatican, calls for intensifying efforts to lift sanctions imposed on Syria
Patriarch Youhanna X Yazigi of Antioch and All East for the Greek Orthodox has renewed his call for lifting the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the West on the Syrian people.
During his meeting on Saturday with the Vatican’s Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin at the Holy See’s palace, Patriarch Yazigi urged intensifying collective efforts as to lift the American and European sanctions imposed on Syria and affecting the livelihood of the Syrian citizens.
Patriarch Yazigi and Cardinal Parolin also discussed the issue of the archbishops Boulus Yazigi and Youhanna Ibrahim, who were kidnapped by terrorist organizations in Aleppo eight years ago.
Yazigi also urged more efforts to form a government in Lebanon as soon as possible in order to help in finding a solution to the country’s financial and economic crisis.
