BEIRUT,(ST)_ Maronite Patriarch Beshara Butrous al-Rae has called to pray for peace and stability in Syria, Palestine, Lebanon and Iraq.
In a Mass in the Monastery of Qannoubine Archaeological convent on the occasion of Virgin Mary Eid, the patriarch said that Christians in the Middle “suffer difficult situations as a result of murder, deportation and other crimes they have exposed to at the hands of terrorist takfiri incitements.”
“We pray for all Christians in Syria, Iraq, Palestine and Egypt, who had begun the process of declaration of the gospel of salvation from the reign of Christ to the present day,and we remember them in our prayers as they suffer war, uprooting or expulsion from their homes “, the patriarch added.
He indicated to what Christians have suffered of recent displacement and harassment acts, as they live, ” dark and difficult times of wars, conflicts, destruction, killing and uprooting,” calling on Christians to “carry the gospel of brotherhood based on peace and coexistence with all peoples, and tolerance and openness with the other, and justice, forgiveness and reconciliation.”
He called for the stability of Lebanon and the election of a Lebanese President noting that “we pray for Lebanon’s stability and to elect a president for Lebanon in order to eliminate all crises in our lives.”
Worthy mentioning, the so-called State of Iraq and al-Shaam terrorist organization has recently carried out forced displacement acts against thousands of Christian families living in Mosul, besides ugliest bloody crimes against the minorities in the areas under their control.
