BUDAPEST, (ST)- Mor Ignatius Aphrem II, the Patriarch of Antioch and All the East and the Supreme Leader of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church, has called for stopping arms supplies to terrorists and lifting the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on the Syrian people.
In a lecture he gave at the “Pazmany Peter” Catholic University in the Hungarian Capital Budapest, Patriarch Aphrem said “we are the people of the region and we will stay in it. People who want to assist us must help keep the people in their countries not displace them.”
“Those who want to help the Syrian people should work to stop the arms supplies coming to terrorists across neighboring countries and to lift the economic sanctions that badly affected the living of the Syrians,” stressed the patriarch.
He talked about liberating Aleppo from terrorism and screened a documentary on the damage caused to the country by the foreign-backed terrorist organizations.
He urged representatives of world mass media to visit Syria to see the truth which has no place in the reports of the misleading media outlets about events in Syria.
On his part, the Hungarian Minister of Human Capacities Zoltan Balog, who is also representative of the country’s foreign ministry, announced that his country’s government has provided a financial support estimated at 2 million Euros for the two orthodox and catholic churches.
