Patriarch Aphrem II calls for immediate international action to support Lebanese affected by Israeli aggression

Damascus (ST) – Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, Supreme Head of the Syriac Orthodox Church in the world, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II, on Monday called for an immediate international move to provide urgent support and necessary relief to the Lebanese, to alleviate their suffering and meet their basic needs.

In a humanitarian appeal issued today from the Patriarchal headquarters in Atchaneh, Lebanon, and a copy of which was received by SANA, Patriarch Aphrem II denounced the ongoing massacres committed by the Israeli enemy daily against innocent Lebanese, the forced displacement of more than one and a half million people from their towns, and the destruction of their homes and livelihoods, which creates a new reality that increases the misery of citizens and provokes sedition and chaos.

Patriarch Aphrem II considered that the new reality imposed by this unjust war on Lebanon requires solidarity and cooperation to help every Lebanese forced to leave his home, and requires working hard to restore security and stability to Lebanon, calling on all the Lebanese to stand together to ward off dangers and complete the constitutional entitlements in the country.
