DAMASCUS, (ST)- All the Syrians want peace and security to be restored to Syria and hope that no country in the world will suffer from the atrocities of terrorism like the Syrian people did, Mor Ignatius Aphrem II, Patriarch of Antioch and All the East for Syriac Orthodox, Supreme Head of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church has underscored.
The patriarch made the remarks on Monday during a formal reception he held on the occasion of the New Year for the ambassadors and heads of the diplomatic missions in Syria.
The reception was held at the Patriarchate of Antioch and all East for Syriac Orthodox in Damascus.
“All the Syrians want peace and security to be restored to Syria and thanks to their sacrifices and the achievements of the Syrian army, the Syrian people managed to liberate Aleppo from terrorism,” said Patriach Aphrem II.
“Witnessing the return of new diplomats to Syria is a source of happiness to us this year,” he added.
He pointed out that the reception “is an opportunity to make the foreign countries hear our Syrian voice that urges countries of the world to cooperate with the Syrian government in attaining political solution to the crisis in Syria, particularly because the terrorism hitting Syria has reached European cities, so they need Syria’s efforts and experience in fighting terrorism.”
The patriarch stressed that the Syrian people wants peace and security to prevail in the entire world and hopes that no one will suffer from the atrocities of terrorism like the Syrian people did, despite the fact that the governments of some western states have supported terrorism in Syria, caused destruction and brought suffering to the Syrians.
