BEIRUT, (ST)-The international community should work to put an end to the terrorist war targeting Syria and to stop the continuous attempts by some western and regional countries to fund and arm terrorists for certain political agendas and strategic interests, Maronite Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros al-Rahi has underscored.
Al-Rahi, who is on a visit to South Africa, regretted that the Middle East, the home of the bible, has turned into a place for wars and conflicts.
“Christians’ existence in the Middle East goes back to 2000 years ago. They, together with the Moslems, have built a great civilization,” al-Rahi told the local press in South Africa.
He pointed out that extremist terrorist movements have destroyed countries and displaced peoples and have become serious threat to world peace.
He stressed that “Neither weapon nor money can protect the world. Only humanitarian and political actions can do”.
