Participation of Terrorism Supporting Countries in Anti-Terror Conferences Extremely Illogic – Al-Zou’bi (2)

DAMASCUS, (ST)-Information Minister Omran al-Zou’bi has described the participation of terrorism supporting countries like Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey in anti-terror conference as extremely extraordinary and illogical.

“These countries continue till this moment to be the main terrorism supporters, sponsors and financiers and it is illogical for terrorists to combat terrorism, for thieves to fight corruption or for killers to stand against crimes,” al-Zou’bui told al-Manar TV last night.

He said the talk about terrorism fighting deals with the anti-terror international Resolution No. 2170 selectively. It continues to refer to the existence of “moderate opposition” in Syria and excludes key counties like Iran, Russia and China.

The minister reiterated that fighting terrorism needs providing objective, political and military environment, as any failure will undermine efforts to achieve the hoped-for goals.

“The American administration implicitly knows that it impossible to achieve any goals in the war on terrorism if the anti-terror international alliance isn’t based on the true engagement of all countries of the region in combating terrorism and at least on the acknowledgment of the Syrian state’s role and on the need to pressure Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia to stop supporting terrorism,” al-Zoubi clarified.

He pointed out that the US announcement to fight the terrorism of the so-called Islamic State in Iraq and Levant (ISIL) was not because of its good will towards the peoples of the region, but because this foreign-backed terrorist organization has deviated from its specified path and begun to threaten Washington’s interests in the US “back garden”.

The minister denied any contacts with the US regarding terrorism fighting and said that “the Syrian stance on this issue is so clear. We back all efforts to combat terrorism but won’t beg for anyone to be our partner.”

He clarified that all parties seeking terrorism fighting has no option but to coordinate with influential forces on ground and with concerned countries and governments. “Any other options will be partial and will cause damage,” he said.
