Participation in the Russian presidential elections reached 60 percent

Moscow-(ST)- The Russian presidential elections are on their third day. Voter participation in the Russian presidential elections has reached 60 percent.

Novosti news agency quoted the Russian Central Election Commission as saying today: After the polls closed last night, the percentage of voters exceeded 58.74 percent, while by nine in the morning it had reached 60 percent, despite attempts to obstruct voting with cyber attacks and misleading news.

In the Chechen Republic, the voting rate exceeded 90 percent, and in the republics of Tuva, Donetsk, North Ossetia, the Kuzbass regions, and the Yamal Federal District, the voting rate was 80 percent.

The Russian presidential elections will be held over three days on the 15th, 16th and 17th of this month.

Four candidates are competing for the position of President of the Russian Federation in the elections. Current President Vladimir Putin is an “independent candidate” and three candidates from the parties represented in parliament are Nikolai Kharitonov (the Communist Party of the Russian Federation), Leonid Slutsky (the Liberal Democratic Party) and Vladislav Davankov (the New People).
