Paroubek: It is difficult to defeat Russia, and Europe is the most affected by the sanctions policy

Prague (ST): Former Czech Prime Minister Jiri Paroubek has affirmed that Western sanctions against Russia have negatively affected citizens of European Union countries, and that it is absurd to continue with such a policy.

Paroubek said in an article he published today on “Your Case” website: Reaching a peaceful solution to the crisis will allow a solution to many of the now aggravating problems in Europe, pointing out that many European countries, including the Czech Republic, have witnessed during the past two years a deep decline in the standard of living.

He pointed out that Russia, unlike many European countries and despite the sanctions imposed on it, shows a stable budget, a large surplus in foreign trade, positive payment capacity and a relatively strong currency, and its inflation rate is much lower than what is prevailing now in the European Union countries.

He considered that it is difficult to defeat a country like Russia, as it possesses all kinds of natural resources, and its population has a privacy that allows them to bear all the shortcomings for the sake of the country’s national interest.
