TEHRAN- Heads of the security and foreign policy committees at the Parliaments of Syria’s friendly countries are holding their second meeting in the Iranian capital Tehran with the participation of 30 countries that share with Iran the policy of calling for halting violence in Syria and attaining security and stability in the country aiming to find a political solution to the ongoing crisis.

Syria’s delegation to the meeting is led by Fadia Deeb, Head of the Foreign Policy Committee at the People’s Assembly.

Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said that the participants of the “Friends of Syria” meeting are against violence in the country, adding that they are in favor of a democratic solution to the more than three years old conflict, according to al-Manar

He stressed that the meeting of Syria real friends in Tehran expresses their support for holding the presidential elections in Syria “which we hope they will be successful and will open the way for a brighter future for Syria.”

Larijani noted that the upcoming presidential elections show that the Syrian government is looking for a peaceful solution to the conflict and will submit to the Syrian people’s will.

Chairman of the Iranian parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi, for his part, pointed out that the presence of these countries in the second conference “shows that many other countries have joined the peace caravan and many people support Iran’s policies on the Syrian crisis.”

“Most of the countries believe that the Syrian crisis only has a political solution and …the policy of strengthening terrorism pursued by the US and its allies has today turned into a serious and potential problem,” the Iranian official added.
