DAMASCUS, (ST)- The Supreme Judicial Committee for Elections announced on Monday that the People’s Assembly elections and vote counting will be repeated in five polling centers, in Aleppo city, Aleppo countryside and Deir Ezzor, because the papers inside the ballot box do not match the recorded data.
Judge Nouri al-Fares, Member of the Committee, told SANA that during the vote counting process in the polling centers we discovered that the papers inside the ballot box do not match the recorded data about the number of voters in two centers in Aleppo, two others in Aleppo countryside and one in Deir Ezzor.
According to al-Fares, final results of the elections will be announced once all polling centers in all provinces complete vote counting.
Ballot boxes for the People’s Assembly elections closed at 11:00 pm on Sunday in all polling centers across Syrian provinces.
The Syrians voted on Sunday to choose 250 candidates out of 1,656 to win the Assembly seats.
Head of the Supreme Judicial Committee for Elections, Judge Samer Zamreeq, affirmed wide participation in the elections.
