Parliament speaker arrives to Baghdad to participate in 11th session of PUOICM

Baghdad – Speaker of the People’s Assembly Mohammad Jihad al-Laham stressed on the historical partnership between Syria and Iraq.

After he arrived to the Iraqi capital Baghdad on Friday, leading a delegation to participate in the eleventh session of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUOICM), al-Laham said that Iraq has started to recover and that the mutual understanding and the historical partnership between Syria and Iraq is continuous, SANA reported.

“We are here today in Baghdad upon the invitation of Iraqi Parliament Speaker Salim al-Jabouri to attend the 11th session of PUOICM, which is a strong proof that Iraq has begun to restore its leading position in the region,” al-Laham added.

He called for unmasking the role of some Gulf sheikhdoms in fomenting terrorism and supporting it in the region with the aim to fragment it.
