Parliament: October Liberation War is an example to be followed for restoring rights

DAMASCUS, Oct.6, (ST)- The People’s Assembly [Parliament] has underscored that the October War of Liberation was an important achievement, especially in the light of the circumstances that hit our Arab region, and it will remain a an example to be followed in restoring rights and defending homelands.

In a statement issued yesterday on the occasion of the 49th anniversary of the October liberation War, the parliament said: “Today we celebrate the forty-ninth anniversary of the glorious October war of liberation ,which was planned for and bravely led by the late president Hafez al-Assad. This war was a turning point in the modern history of Syria and in the Arab-Zionist conflict… It contributed to raising morale by restoring confidence and absolute belief in victory and the liberation of our usurped lands and breaking the fear barrier and destroying illusions.”

It added : “Today, we recall the glory of October after more than ten years of the fiercest war that has been waged by our people and our valiant armed forces in the face of the forces of evil and terrorism and their supporters and operators, led by the US and the hateful global Zionism represented by Israeli entity.”

The statement concluded by underlining that the meanings of the October Liberation anniversary are rooted in our souls, minds and conscience, from which we learn and draw lessons from .These lessons will remain a motivation for freedom fighters and honorable ones, and an example to be followed for restoring rights and defending homelands.”
