Parliament discusses the performance of Ministry of Information

DAMASCUS, (ST)_ The People’s Assembly [Parliament] discussed on Thursday the performance of the Ministry of Information and relevant issues.
 
A the beginning of the 23rd  session of the 1st normal session of the 3rd legislative term, Minister of Information Imad Sara talked about the strategy of the ministry and its general principles that are based on documenting  the heroism of the Syrian army.
 
“All  institutions, which are affiliated to the ministry, work on documenting terrorist crimes and  unmasking the axis of terrorism-supporters which is led by the United States and several regimes and entities, such as the Zionist entity, the minister said
 
He pointed out that the Syrian media face mainstream media outlets that work around the clock to target Syria and to malign it.
 
Sara asserted that the Ministry of Information is doing its utmost to address challenges related to improving the content and the form of media reports, indicating that this matter requires millions of dollars.
 
He in addition referred to the fact that 40 journalists were martyred and 60 others were wounded during the ongoing war on Syria.
 
As for the role of social media, the minister said that a lot of rumors are being circulated via social media and this has had a bad effect as it turns a crisis into several crises.
 
“Several programs are prepared in cooperation with the Interior Ministry to refute these rumors and to pursue those who circulate them because these rumors come with electronic crimes,” Sara clarified.
 
Several parliamentarians called on the Minister to enhance cooperation between the Ministry of Information and Syrian communities abroad and to form a national commission for information.
 
They stressed the need to enhance trust between the people and the media through focusing of issues that are important for the people.
