Parliament, Cabinet to enhance steadfastness of Syrian people and army

DAMASCUS,(ST))_Speaker of the People’s Assembly [Parliament] has said the front defending Syria has reinforced its position to defeat terrorism, calling for mobilizing all capabilities in the battle of defending the homeland for defeating enemies with minimal losses as soon as possible.

Mohammad Jihad al-Lahham talked about the steadfastness and achievements of the Syrian Arab army that led to the retrogression of enemies , stressing that this shift requires enhancing the steadfastness of the Syrian people and army through ensuring services and main needs.

His remarks were made during a session held today in the Parliament in the presence of the cabinet’s members.

He underscored the need for shedding light on the issue of the unjust economic blockade imposed by western states and some Arab ones on Syria and its peoples, highly appreciating Russia’s support for Syria.

The Speaker, in addition, thanked Iran, BRICS States and all friends, who stand by Syria in confronting the Takfiri terrorism.

Al-Lahham commented on the issue of Syrian refugees going  to Europe by saying  that this issue resulted from the support of west and some Arab and regional regimes to the Takfiri terrorist groups.

“The United Nations has shrunk its aid to Syrian refugees in nearby states,” the Speaker said.  

Russia, Iran, Syria and the Lebanese resistance represent the winning group: al-Halaqi  

On his part, the Prime Minister highly appreciated the role of legislative institutions and their communication with international parliamentary delegations to explain what is going on in Syria.

Wael al-Halaqi  stressed the government’s commitment to ensure all the requirements to consolidate the steadfastness of the armed forces, internal security forces and popular defense groups, reaffirming promised care for the families of the martyrs and injured personnel.

“Combatting terrorism is a priority to protect civilians and to ensure their return to their homes,” the PM said, adding that Russia, Iran, Syria and the Lebanese resistance represent the winning group.

“Syrian government is fighting terrorism on the one hand and rebuilding the homeland on the other. ..Through the wise  diplomacy of President Bashar al-Assad, the government conveys what is going on in Syria to the international organizations and to friendly states,” al-Halaqi said.

He also briefed the parliament on efforts being exerted by the government in all sectors nationwide.
