Panoramic multi panel artwork inaugurated at the conclusion of World Theater Day activities in Syria
Activities of the World Theater Day in Syria were concluded by inaugurating a panoramic multi panel artwork implemented by nine students of the Scenography Department at the Higher Institute of Theatrical Arts.
The artwork is the result of a workshop held under the supervision of the Scenography Department teachers. It embodies a message left by the Syrian Baal god to his people 5000 years ago. The message reads “break your sword and grab your pickaxe and follow me to plant peace and love in the heart of the farmland. You are SYRIAN and Syria is the center of the world”.
The panoramic work, which also contains panels representing Ishtar goddess as well as cuneiform tablets, aims at shedding light on Syria’s rich history and diverse cultural heritage.
“Presenting this panoramic work at the end of the World Theater Day indicates the sequence and the continuity of the Syrian civilization which was accumulated on this blessed land. It also embodies the Syrians’ civilized and peaceful orientation since old times,” Culture Minister Lubana Mshaweh said after inaugurating the panoramic artwork.

She added that the cultural activities of the World Theater Day were rich as they included a fair for books, theatrical research works and other related publications in addition to theatrical performances and honoring ceremonies for former graduates of the Higher Institute of Theatrical Arts.
On his part, Dean of the Higher Institute of Theatrical Arts Tamer Al-Arbeed hailed the activities held during the World Theater Day, pointing out that inaugurating this panoramic work aims at getting the students acquainted with Syria’s rich heritage and at enriching the creative abilities of artists.
