Palestinian Red Crescent Warns of humanitarian catastrophe as a result of the occupation’s siege of Al-Amal Hospital
Occupied Al-Quds- The Palestine Red Crescent Society warned of a humanitarian catastrophe in Al-Amal Hospital in the city of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, as a result of the continued bombing and siege of the hospital by the Israeli occupation for the twenty-ninth day.
The Society explained in a statement reported by Wafa Agency that the occupation forces bombed with artillery the third floor of the hospital, wounding three of the patients’ companions. They also bombed facilities and water lines, causing major damage to them, noting that the hospital is suffering from the depletion of fuel and a severe scarcity of medical supplies, medicines and food, in addition to the fact that drinking water is only sufficient for two days due to the occupation’s disruption of the hospital’s water desalination plant in which leads to a humanitarian catastrophe.
The Palestinian Red Crescent called on the international community and relevant international organizations to take immediate action to protect medical personnel, patients and displaced persons in the hospital. It also called for breaking the Israeli siege imposed on the hospital and ensuring safe passage for the sick and wounded to leave and to bring in humanitarian aid and medical supplies.
