Palestinian Prisoners’ movements warn against the deteriorating health condition of Palestinian prisoners Iyyad Hreibat and Al-Ghadanfar Abu Atwan

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Club has warned against the deteriorating health condition of the Palestinian prisoner in the Israeli occupation jails Iyyad Hreibat due to medical negligence as well as other arbitrary practices by the occupation towards the Palestinian prisoners.

In a statement reported by WAFA news agency on Tuesday, the Prisoners’ Club said that Hreibta, 39, has been detained since 2002. He has been suffering from a neurological disease for years that has affected his ability to move normally. He recently underwent a surgery whose aftermath has worsened his health condition in a life threatening way, particularly in the light of the occupation’s refusal to provide him with necessary medical treatment.

The Israeli occupation’s policy of deliberate medical negligence has caused the death of 71 sick Palestinian prisoners out of 226 prisoners who have died in the Israeli jails since 1967.

Some 5300 Palestinian prisoners are held in the Israeli occupation jails within very difficult conditions. 550 of these prisoners are sick and they need urgent medical treatment.

Meantime, the Palestinian Prisoners and Ex-prisoners Authority warned against the deteriorating health condition of the Palestinian prisoner in the Israeli occupation jails Al-Ghadanfar Abu Atwan, 28, who has been on a hunger strike for 49 consecutive days in protest against the Israeli occupation criminal acts towards the Palestinian captives.

In a statement, the authority said that Abu Atwan needs urgent medical treatment to save his life after he has become in a critical health condition due to lack of fluids in his body, which threatens the function of his heart and kidneys.

The authority called on concerned international organizations to interfere immediately to save Abu Atwan’s life and pressure the occupation authorities to release him.
