Palestinian Prisoners Club warns of the deterioration of the health condition of the prisoner Abdel Basset Maatan

Occupied Al-Quds,( ST) – The Palestinian Prisoners Club warned of the deterioration of the health status of the detainee with cancer, Abdel Baset Maatan, as a result of the arbitrary practices of the Israeli occupation against him, especially deliberate medical negligence.

Wafa News Agency quoted the club as saying in a statement yesterday that the occupation authorities refrain from transferring the prisoner Maatan to the hospital and providing him with the necessary medical treatment. The Club added that Maatan is threatened with the spread of cancerous cells in all parts of his body.

The club pointed out that what Maatan is subjected to is part of the systematic policy of medical neglect suffered by hundreds of sick prisoners, as the occupation authorities continue to transform the prisoner’s need for treatment into a tool of abuse. The Club holds the occupation fully responsible for the life of Maatan and all other sick prisoners.

Maatan, 48, was arrested on October 25th 2021, and underwent several surgeries before his arrest, during which part of his colon was removed, to find out later that the cancerous cells had not been fully treated and that there was a possibility of the disease spreading.
