Palestinian Prisoners Club: The spread of diseases and epidemics among prisoners in the occupation prisons

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Club revealed that diseases and epidemics are spreading among Palestinian detainees in the occupation prisons, as a result of the occupation authorities’ practices against the Palestinian prisoners and the medical neglect they suffer in Israeli jails.

The Prisoner’s Club  explained in a statement today, reported by Wafa Agency, that the tormenting measures that the occupation authorities have continued to implement against the prisoners since the beginning of the Zionist aggression against the Gaza Strip on the seventh of last October, foremost of which is severe overcrowding in the cells, in addition to the lack of water availability and the unprecedented conditions of isolation that the prisoners suffer in addition to the systematic torture operations that led to injuries among prisoners, all contributed to the deterioration of their health conditions and the spread of some diseases among their ranks, especially skin diseases.

The Club explained that the ongoing starvation policy in detention centers affected the health conditions of prisoners, in addition to the lack of clothing and hygiene supplies, add to that the cold and harsh winter conditions. They warned that the continuation of these arbitrary measures will exacerbate the health conditions of thousands of prisoners, especially in light of the continuing detention campaigns.

The Club stated that the occupation authorities have escalated the level of medical crimes, going beyond deliberate negligence that over the past few years was the main reason for the martyrdom of many prisoners in the occupation prisons.

The Club pointed out that the number of Palestinian prisoners in the occupation detention centers reached more than 8,800 at the end of last December, noting that the number of prisoners before the seventh of last October was over 5,250.
