Palestinian Prisoners Club: 66 male and female journalists have been detained since the start of the Israeli aggression on Gaza
Occupied Al-Quds (ST) – The Palestinian Prisoners Club announced that the Israeli occupation forces have detained 66 male and female journalists from the West Bank since the beginning of the aggression against Gaza Strip on October 7, 45 of whom are still in detention centres.
The Club stated that the detention of journalists come within the framework of the genocidal war waged by the occupation against Gaza Strip for the 180th day, which led to the martyrdom of 140 journalists in the Strip, in addition to the targeting of their families.
The Club stressed that the majority of detained journalists were subjected to brutal attacks through severe beatings and torture, as all who were detained after the 7th of last October.
The Club noted that the number of detained female journalists has risen to 4, the most recent of whom is a journalist who was detained by the occupation forces at dawn today from her home in Ramallah, in the context of the escalation of daily detentions, especially against women.
The club renewed its call on international human rights institutions to bear their responsibilities in the face of the continued genocide in Gaza, and the occupation’s targeting of all segments of Palestinian society through widespread and systematic detention operations, especially against journalists, in a continuous attempt to silence them.
