Palestinian prisoner Awawda continues his hunger strike in Israeli prisons

Occupied Al-Quds, (ST) – Despite his critical health condition, Palestinian prisoner Khalil Awawda continues his hunger strike for the 165th day inside the Israeli occupation prisons in protest against the violations of the Israeli occupation against the prisoners.

The spokesman for The Palestinian Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Authority, Hassan Abed Rabbo, confirmed to Wafa News Agency that the suffering of the 40-year-old prisoner, Awawda, is worsening and his health condition is deteriorating little by little.

It is noteworthy that Awawda announced his first hunger strike on the third of last March and suspended it after 111 days on the twenty-first of June, when the occupation authorities pledged to release him, but they reneged on their pledges. They prompted him to resume his strike on the second of last July.

Abd Rabbo added that the two brothers, Ahmed Hussein Musa, 44, and Adal Hussein Musa, 34, from the town of Al-Khader, south of Bethlehem, have continued their hunger strike for 18 days since their arrest on August 7, 2022, as the latter suffers from severe heart problems.

Despite Awawda’s suffering of Head and joint pain, dizziness, emaciation, irregular heartbeat and breathing, in addition to difficulty moving, occupation authorities reneged on their pledges to release him.

Awawda was arrested on the 27th of last December and has previously been arrested several times since 2002. He is married and the father of four daughters

In a related context, the prisoners in the occupation prisons continue their struggle steps in protest against the occupation practices and violations against them, which will end early next month with a hunger strike.
