Palestinian Presidency welcomes “Bahama’s recognition of Palestine as a state

The Palestinian presidency has welcomed the Bahamas’ announcement of officially recognizing the State of Palestine, valuing its contribution to consecrating the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination on their land.

Wafa Agency quoted the Presidency as saying in a statement on Wednesday : “The right of peoples to self-determination is an established right recognized under international law”

It added “Palestine renews its continuous call to countries that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine to stand up to their responsibilities and acknowledge the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and  restoring confidence in a global system based on equal rules and rights for all peoples of the Earth.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry, in turn, welcomed the decision because it is consistent with the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people at a time when they are being exposed to attempts to displace them and obliterate their cause by the occupying authority .

The Foreign Ministry appreciated the positions of the Caribbean Basin countries and their noble endeavors to support  achieving justice and freedom for the Palestinian people and their actual support for the establishment of the Palestinian state.

It called  on the countries that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine to follow the policy  of the Caribbean Basin countries, and to rely on the popular will and international legitimacy to do justice to the Palestinian people, and to support its  right to independence and to live in dignity and justice like other peoples on earth.
