Palestinian Ministry of Culture: More than 200 archaeological sites destroyed since the start of the aggression on Gaza Strip

Occupied Al-Quds, (ST) – The Palestinian Ministry of Culture revealed that 45 writers, artists, and activists in the cultural and heritage field have been martyred, and more than 200 archaeological and heritage sites have been destroyed since the start of the Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip on the 7th of last October.

Wafa News Agency quoted the ministry as saying today in a joint report with the Central Bureau of Statistics on the occasion of Palestinian National Culture Day, which falls on March 13: The occupation’s aggression against Gaza Strip led to the destruction of about 32 cultural centers and institutions and 12 museums.

The ministry added that this aggression also led to the loss of more than 2,100 embroidered dresses and cloth, destroying about 27 murals, bombing more than 8 publishing and printing houses, 3 media and artistic production companies and studios, 9 public libraries, and destroying 195 historical buildings, 9 archaeological sites, and 19 universities and colleges.

The report said that the occupation’s aggressive practices in the West Bank led to the cessation of many cultural activities due to the raids and massacres committed by the occupation forces in various areas. It indicated that the occupation is not only fighting Palestinian cultural activity, but is trying to dismantle cultural institutions, especially in Al-Quds, and stop their activity completely.
