Palestinian Journalists Syndicate calls for providing international protection for journalists

Occupied Al-Quds, (ST) – The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate has renewed its call on the international community to stop the Israeli occupation’s crimes against journalists and to provide them with international protection.

The Syndicate of Journalists said in a statement on Wednesday on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, that journalists continue to expose the crimes of the occupation, despite the dangers resulting from its aggressive practices against them. “These practices induded opening fire on them, detaining them and preventing them from working, from traveling, and even from moving between the West Bank and the besieged Gaza Strip”, the statement added.

The Syndicate called on the international community and international organizations to expedite the procedures of the International Criminal Court, which accepted the complaint submitted by the Syndicate to investigate the crimes of the occupation against journalists.

The year 2022 is considered as one of the most dangerous years for journalists and the highest in terms of the percentage of occupation crimes against them.

The Syndicate documented 902 violations and crimes, most of which were recorded in Al-Quds, especially in the vicinity of Al-Aqsa Mosque and Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, followed by Nablus, Ramallah and Jenin.
