Palestinian hunger striking prisoner Abu Atwan stresses “my empty stomach is my weapon to regain freedom “

The Palestinian prisoner in the Israeli jails Al-Ghadanfar Abu Atwan continued on Tuesday his hunger strike for the 63rd consecutive day despite massive deterioration of his health condition.

Abu Atwan is on a hunger strike in protest against his unfair detention without charge or trial and against the occupation’s aggressive and oppressive practices towards the Palestinian prisoners.

Palestinian media outlets quoted Abu Atwan as saying “I will triumph. I will keep steadfast and continue the hunger strike. Two days ago, I even refrained from drinking water. My will is stronger than my jailer and my empty stomach is my weapon to regain my freedom.”

“I am not the first and not the last to go on a hunger strike. The Palestinian people are steadfast and they struggle to restore their rights and the entire world should know about their suffering under occupation and should support them until they restore their freedom and rights,” Abu Atwan added.

Last Sunday, Abu Atwan sent a message to freedom-loving peoples of the world calling on them to interfere to save his life in the light of the occupation authorities’ intransigence and refusal to release him.

“I lost my health, my life is vanishing in front of my eyes and the occupation is applying a slow death policy on me. Save my life,” he said in his message.

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Club has warned that Abu Atwan’s health condition is deteriorating continuously as he is suffering from a severe deficiency in the amount of fluid in the body that endangers the functions of the vital organs in his body. It urged the international community to pressure the occupation in order to immediately release the prisoner.
