Palestinian hunger striker Maher al-Akhras thanks Syria for its honorable stance in support for the Palestinian cause
OCCUPIED AL-QUDS, (ST)-Maher al-Akhras, the Palestinian detainee and hunger striker in the Israeli occupation jails thanked Syria for its honorable stance in support for the Palestinian cause.
“I hope that the Syrian people, government and army will continue to support our just cause. Many thanks to their honorable stances,” al-Akhras, who has been on an open-ended hunger strike over the past 90 days, said.
In a video, al-Akhras expressed his pride in the steadfastness of the Syrian state, people and army in the face of the foreign conspiracy and the terrorist war that has been waged against the country through using extremist groups claiming they are Muslims, while in fact they have nothing to do with Islam.
“”I salute Syria and its army which has heroically fought the takfiri criminals and their supporters,” al-Akhras said, stressing that Syrian will triumph over the terrorists and completely clear its land from them.
The Palestinian captive also thanked Russia and the Russian President Valdimir Putin for interference to find a solution to his detention issue.
Al-Akhras continues with his hunger strike for the 90th consecutive day in protest against the incessant Israeli occupation crimes against Palestinian prisoners in a flagrant violation of international human rights law. The Israeli occupation refuses to release al-Akhras despite warnings by Palestinian organizations and human rights bodies about the deterioration of his health condition.
In the same context, the Palestinian captive appealed to the international community to pressure the Israeli occupation to transfer him to one of the hospitals in the West Bank in the light of his deteriorating health condition.
“I don’t want to die in the Israeli occupation jails. If the international community wants to help me, let it transfer me to a hospital in the West Bank. I want to die among my family members. I want other prisoners, who have been on hunger strike, as well as the families of the martyrs to carry my coffin,” al-Akhras said, calling on the Palestinian people to protect their homeland.
The Palestinian Prisoners Club on Friday, announced that the occupation authorities extended the period of al-Akhras detention and transferred it al-Ramleh detention center.
