Palestinian Health Ministry renews call for releasing Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails amid Coronavirus outbreak

The Palestinian Minister of Health Mai Al-Kaila has renewed her call on the international community and all humanitarian organizations to pressure the Israeli occupation authorities to release the Palestinian prisoners, particularly the sick and the elderly, in the light of the outbreak of the Coronavirus.

In a statement reported by WAFA news agency, Dr. Al-Kaila said that Palestinian prisoner Basel Makhlouf Ajaj, 45, is infected with Coronavirus and he needs urgent medical treatment to save his life and avoid the infection of other prisoners in the Israeli jails. She called for sending an international medical committee to supervise the prisoners’ conditions with the aim of protecting them from the spread of the virus.

Earlier, the Palestinian Prisoners Club affirmed that 191 prisoners were infected with the Coronavirus, 43 of them are patients and 4 others are elderly who suffer from difficult health conditions as a result of the deliberate medical negligence of the occupation authorities.
