OCCUPIED AL-QUDS, Dec.25, (ST)-The Palestinian Ministry of Health has announced that the Israeli occupation committed 25 massacres over the past hours, killing 250 Palestinians and injuring 500 others, bringing the number of martyrs of the continuing aggression for the 80th day to 20,674 and the wounded to 54,536, while thousands are still missing.
The ministry clarified in a statement released today: “The occupation escalated its aggression through field executions, massacres, genocide, and wiping out residential neighborhoods including those in them. During the past 24 hours, it committed 25 massacres against entire families, claiming the lives of 250 Palestinians and injuring 500 others…..The occupation’s attacks against the health system led to the martyrdom of 311 of its staff, the stop of services in 23 hospitals and 53 health centers and the destruction of 102 ambulances, while the occupation continues to arrest 99 medical staff, including the directors of Al-Shifa, Kamal Adwan, and Al-Awda hospitals.”
It confirmed that the occupation deliberately destroyed hospitals in northern Gaza, leaving 800,000 Palestinians without health services, and the wounded, sick, pregnant women and infants are exposed to certain death, while the clinical occupancy rate in hospitals in the south reached 350 percent, and hundreds of wounded are sleeping on the floor in departments and operation rooms.
The ministry added that 900,000 children in shelters suffer from the risk of dehydration, famine, digestive and respiratory diseases, skin diseases, and anemia, and 50,000 pregnant women are in shelters without water, food, or health care, and more than 180 women give birth every day in unsafe and inhumane conditions, 70% of kidney failure patients are exposed to catastrophic health risks as a result of bombing, displacement, and the difficulty of reaching the centers designated for that, especially in northern Gaza.
It called on countries and health institutions all over the world to provide field hospitals and specialized medical teams and ensure access to Gaza to save the lives of the wounded, and to work immediately to operate the Al-Shifa Medical Complex and hospitals in northern Gaza in order to save the lives of the wounded and the sick.
The ministry also called on the international institutions to move from the position of describing the catastrophic reality of the displaced and warnings of its seriousness to finding effective and urgent mechanisms that guarantee humanitarian intervention to prevent disaster and famine by providing adequate shelter for winter conditions, sufficient quantities of potable water, personal hygiene, food, clothing and blankets, and establishing medical points for the displaced in all their places of residence.
