Palestinian Health Ministry: Gaza needs many field hospitals

Occupied Al-Quds (ST) – The Palestinian Ministry of Health affirmed that the Israeli occupation’s aggression against the besieged Gaza strip caused severe damage to the health sector, calling on international institutions to take effective measures to protect the health system and bring in medical aid and fuel.

The Ministry stressed that the occupation’ bombing put more hospitals in the northeast of the Strip out of service, and only 3 of them continue to provide  services at a minimum, as no medical aid has reached them. The rest of the hospitals in the Strip are operating with very limited capacity, and the aid that has reached them does not meet the needs.

The Ministry pointed out that despite the massive destruction caused by the occupation to the infrastructure during its brutal attack on Al-Shifa Medical Complex; it was able, with local capabilities, to restart the dialysis department in the complex.

The Ministry indicated the urgent need to establish huge field hospitals to compensate for the large number of hospitals that are now out of service as a result of the occupation’s bombing. It also noted the necessity of transporting thousands of wounded people outside the Strip to receive the necessary medical care because if they  stay in Gaza their lives could be  threatened due to the lack of appropriate treatment.

As a result of the ongoing Israeli occupation aggression against Gaza Strip since the 7th of last October, 207 doctors, nurses, paramedics were killed, 26 hospitals and 55 health centers were put out of service, in addition to 56 ambulances being destroyed and dozens of them being out of service due to running out of fuel.
