Palestinian prisoner and freedom fighter Rushdi Abu Mukh, 58, was released today after completing 35 years in the Israeli occupation jails.
WAFA News Agency reported citing the Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) Abu Mukh, from the town of Baqaa Al-Gharbieh inside the Palestinian lands occupied by Israel in 1948, that Abu Mukh was detained in 1986 along with three others from the same town for their resistance of the Israeli occupation. The other three were Walid Daqqa, Ibrahim Abu Mukh and Ibrahim Beyadseh.
Abu Mukh, along with 24 other Palestinian freedom fighters, was supposed to be released in 2014 in a US-brokered deal as part of the so-called Palestinian-Israeli “peace” negotiations, but, Israel didn’t complied with the deal at the last minute.
The mother of Abu Mukh waited for the release of her son 33 years but she never saw him – she died two years ago.
By releasing Abu Mukh, the number of old prisoners will be 25, 11 of them from the occupied Palestinian territories in 1948, and the oldest of them are Karim Yunis and Maher Younis, who have been detained since 1983.
