Palestinian Foreign Ministry: the Israeli occupation building of settlements eliminates any chance of establishing a Palestinian state

On June 19th, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated that the Israeli occupation’s expanding of settlement operations is a consecration of the apartheid regime and an attempt to introduce major changes in the Palestinian land.

The Ministry stated that building settlements leads to the elimination of any opportunity to establish an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

The Ministry stressed that the failure to implement the relevant international legitimacy resolutions, especially Resolution 2334, and the failure to hold the occupation authorities accountable for the settlement crime encourages them to persist in disregarding international law.

The Ministry indicated that the Israeli occupation seized areas of Palestinian lands in the towns of Azmut and Deir al-Hatab in Nablus to expand a settlement built on their lands, in addition to seizing 20 dunums in the Al-Masara area in occupied Jerusalem to separate it from the Bab al-Amoud area and fragment the Palestinian presence in Jerusalem.

It also drew attention to the settlers’ daily crimes, the most recent of which was their establishment of a settlement outpost in the town of al-Lubban al-Sharqiah, south of Nablus, and their attacks on Palestinians in the towns of Kafral-Deek and al-Ma’arjat in Salfit.

The Ministry said that these attacks are an integral part of the occupation’s policy of displacing the residents of more than 154 villages and towns in the West Bank.
