Palestinian Foreign Ministry: Occupation’s refusal to allow entry of the UN investigation committee illegal
Occupied Jerusalem (ST): The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the Israeli occupation’s refusal of the United Nations investigation commission to enter Palestine is “illegal,” calling on the international community to support the commission’s work to achieve its tasks consistent with the mandate granted to it by the United Nations and international law and its references.
In a statement today, reported by Wafa Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the importance of the work of the Permanent Commission of Inquiry, emanating from the Human Rights Council, which is charged with investigating all violations of international humanitarian law and human rights in the occupied Palestinian territory, including Jerusalem, headed by Navi Pillay.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejected the frenzied campaign directed against the committee and the position of the Israeli entity in refusing to cooperate with it, noting that although this position is not legal, it was not surprising because the Israeli authorities do not abide by the rules of international law or the decisions of UN institutions and did not cooperate with any of the independent international bodies investigation committees.
