Palestinian Foreign Ministry condemns escalation of Israeli occupation government aimed at completing annexation of the West Bank

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the Israeli occupation government’s approval of settlement expansion by Minister Bezalel Smotrich is a dangerous escalation aimed at completing the annexation of the West Bank.

The ministry said in a statement today, reported by Wafa Agency, that this matter is another step taken by the occupation towards imposing its control over the West Bank, completing the annexation, and facilitating the passage of its settlement plans through brief stages.

The Ministry called for taking serious international and American action, putting pressure on the occupation authorities to prevent the implementation of this measure, and implementing the necessary practical steps to force it to stop its illegal unilateral measures that disregard international law and international legitimacy decisions and undermine the chances of establishing an independent Palestinian state on the line of June 4, 1967.

Last March, Minister Smotrich called for the obliteration of the town of Hawara, south of Nablus, from existence, followed by statements in which he denied the existence of the Palestinian people. His statements were widely rejected and condemned by Palestinians, but they were disregarded by the international community which remained silent regarding these dangerous statements that reflect the racism of the occupation and its attempts to implement its Judaization plans.
