Palestinian Foreign Ministry calls for stopping Israel’s plans to annex Jordan Valley

OCCUPIED Al-QUDS, (ST)_The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called on the international community to assume its responsibility and to adopt the necessary measures in accordance with the international law and UN charter and Geneva  Conventions to stop the Israeli occupation’s  expansionist and colonial plans that aim at annexing the Jordan Valley in the West Bank .

The ministry referred  in a statement released today to the escalation of remarks being made by the Israeli occupation officials on the annexation of the Jordan valley after the US Secretary of State Mik Pompeo declared that the U.S. administration considers “the establishment of Israeli civilian settlements in the West Bank is not, per se, inconsistent with international law.”

It affirmed that the international failure to hold the occupation authority accountable for its crimes against Palestinian people encourages it to go ahead with its settlement plans and to end any opportunity to establish an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
