Palestinian Foreign Ministry calls for international intervention to protect those at Al-Shifa Medical Complex

Occupied Al-Quds, (ST) – The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the Israeli occupation army’s storming into Al-Shifa Medical Complex and other hospitals and health centers in the Gaza Strip is a flagrant violation of international law, international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions.

The Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday, reported by Wafa News Agency, that the raids on Gaza hospitals constitute an extension of all the violations and crimes committed by the occupation against the Palestinian people, and its continuous targeting of health centers and medical and ambulance teams, which leads to depriving the Palestinians of their most basic rights related to their right to treatment and receiving medical service.

The Foreign Ministry held the occupation fully responsible for the safety of medical staff and thousands of sick, wounded and children, including premature infants and displaced persons in the complex. It called for urgent international intervention to provide them with protection.

Gaza Media Office: The occupation’s storming into Al-Shifa Medical Complex is a war crime

In the same context, the Gaza Media Office confirmed that the Israeli occupation forces storming into the Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza is a war crime, holding the occupation, the international community and the United States responsible for the safety of thousands of medical staff, the wounded and the displaced inside.

The office said in a statement on Wednesday: Today at dawn, the Israeli occupation stormed the Al-Shifa Medical Complex, after imposing a tight siege on it for several days, during which it bombed more than five buildings inside the complex and fired fire and shells on the wounded, the displaced, and the medical teams present inside the complex, in a war crime and a crime against humanity.

The office added: The occupation is once again committing a heinous crime by targeting Al-Shifa Medical Complex and shooting inside its sections, despite knowing that there is about 10,000 medical staff, wounded, sick and displaced people inside it.

The office pointed out that the crime committed by the occupation by storming into Al-Shifa Complex comes after it committed several massacres against hospitals and medical staff, which claimed the lives of more than 700 martyrs and wounded, the most horrific of which was Al-Mamadani Hospital massacre.

The office pointed out that the occupation has been targeting hospitals and medical staff since the beginning of its war on the Gaza Strip on October 7, where it killed 202 medical staff, destroyed 55 ambulances, and put 25 hospitals out of service.

The office warned against committing a massacre in the Al-Shifa Complex, holding the occupation, the international community and the United States fully responsible for the safety of thousands of medical personnel, the wounded and the displaced inside it.
