Palestinian Embassy in Damascus commemorates the anniversary of the Nakba

Damascus, (ST) – The Embassy of the State of Palestine in Damascus organized an event today, under the title “the 75th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba”, at the Arab Cultural Center in Al-Midan.

The Ambassador of the State of Palestine in Damascus, Samir Al-Rifai indicated in his speech that seventy-five years after the Nakba, the Palestinian people are still resisting the Zionist project, through their adherence to their land and their inalienable historical right, and their continuous struggle to establish their state with Al-Quds as its capital.

Ambassador Al-Rifai saluted Syria and everyone who stood by the Palestinian people and said: Syria is the steadfast fortress that constitutes the lever of national action in the region, and it is the supporter of Palestine and history testifies that Al-Quds (Jerusalem) and Damascus are twins brought together by history, and the future will bring them together.

The Secretary-General of the Palestinian leadership of the Arab Socialist Baath Party, Dr. Muhammad Qais affirmed that the Palestinian people will not give up their right to return to the land of their fathers and grandfathers, no matter how long it takes. He pointed to the need to end divisions and strengthen national unity and national action, as it is the key to return.

The Secretary-General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine – General Command, Dr. Talal Naji presented a historical presentation of the stage before and after the Nakba, and the conspiracies and schemes used by the Zionist enemy to liquidate the Palestinian cause. He stressed that the Palestinian people are determined to continue the struggle and resistance until the restoration of all their rights, and the establishment of the Palestinian state with its capital, Al-Quds.

It is noteworthy that the Zionist forces, with the help of the British occupation authorities, on May 15, 1948, expelled and displaced hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from their cities and villages, and turned them into refugees in neighboring countries, after they committed brutal massacres against the Palestinians, killing thousands of martyrs. They demolished and destroyed hundreds of Palestinian villages and cities and established settlements in their place.
