Palestinian administrative detainees continue to boycott Israeli occupation courts

RAMALLAH, At least 500 Palestinian administrative detainees continue to boycott Israeli occupation courts for the tenth day in a row in protest against Israel’s systematic administrative detention policies, according to the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS), according to Wafa News Agency.

It said in a statement that the administrative detainees’ decision came in light of the Israeli occupation authorities’ escalation of measures against them during the past year as the number of administrative detention orders issued against current and new detainees reached 1595 orders.

It is noteworthy that among the administrative detainees are four minors and a woman.

The highest percentage of administrative detention orders was issued during the month of May 2021, reaching 200 orders, and about 60 prisoners and administrative detainees engaged in hunger strikes last year, most of them in protest against their administrative detention and to regain their freedom.

The last of the hunger strikers was Hisham Abu Hawash, 40, from the town of Dura, in the Hebron district, who after 141 days of fast was able last week to force Israel not to renew his administrative detention past its 26 February end date.
