Palestine: The International Community’s inaction encourages the occupation to commit more crimes against the Palestinians

The international community’s inaction towards the Palestinian people encourages the Israeli occupation to commit more crimes in the occupied Palestinian territories, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Monday.

The ministry made it clear that although the International Criminal Court (ICC) has declared its jurisdiction over the occupied Palestinian territories and an investigation into the occupation’s crimes against the Palestinians is expected soon, the Israeli occupation keeps escalating its attacks against the Palestinians through confiscating large areas of land and expanding settlements. It affirmed that these Israeli violations undermine any opportunity to establish an independent, viable and geographically connected Palestinian state with Al-Quds as its capital.

The Israeli occupation forces and settlers have escalated their acts of house demolition, land seizure, vandalism against agricultural lands as well as arrest campaigns in different parts of the Palestinian territories, the ministry went on to say.

Moreover, the Israeli occupation forces and settlers carried on with their raids on Palestinian towns and villages as well worshipping places, mainly Al-Aqsa Mosque, and maintained the unjust siege on the Gaza Strip, the ministry stressed, indicating that the occupation authorities seek to turn the occupied Palestinian territory into a large prison and areas that are isolated from each other.

The ministry expressed hope that the ICC Prosecutor would speed up her decision to announce the opening of an official investigation into the crimes committed by the occupation against the Palestinians in order to hold this occupation accountable for these crimes.
