MOSCOW,(ST)_ Russia ‘s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stressed that the role of the Middle East and the Islamic world in the Russian foreign policy is not declining, calling not to forget about the Palestinian cause in the midst of events of the so-called “Arab Spring.”
Russia Today online quoted Lavrov as saying in a speech at the Diplomatic Academy in Moscow today that “there isno talk about reducing the role of the Middle East and the Islamic world in our foreign policy.”
Lavrov recalled Russia’s meeting with the Arab League, held in Moscow last week as part of a strategic dialogue, considering that the priority given to this area is proved in Moscow’s vision to build relations with the Arab League.
Customs Union between Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan is efficient
On the other hand, Lavrov said that the Customs Union, which includes Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan proved efficiency.
Itar-Tass quoted Lavrov as saying in the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry said today that the Customs Union increased competitiveness among economies, adding that economic growth remained strong following the establishment of the Customs Union, which, in turn, proved efficiency.
“The higher economic performance is, our trade and investment cooperation with other countries will be more effective.” Lavrov said
Russian fleet permanently stationed in the Mediterranean as from 2015
In another context, a source at Russian Chiefs of army Staff said that the three Russian warships of the Russian military fleets : The Black Sea , the North Sea, and Baltic will be permanently stationed in the Mediterranean as from the beginning of from 2015.
Earlier, the Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced that the Russian military maritime fleet is able to carry out missions in any area of the world of Russia’s national interests, noting that the area of key interest now is the Mediterranean, where most serious threats are concentrated.
